Birmingham's ready to get the Commonwealth Games underway with tonight's opening ceremony

Teams from 72 nations including the Isle of Man will take part in what's been called one of the most inclusive Games ever.

For the first time, there are more women's medals to be won than men's.

Cyclist Mark Cavendish and Swimmer Laura Kinley will carry the Manx into the Alexander Stadium.

The Island has sent 34 athletes to compete across eight sports and the first ever para-athelte to compete.

You can watch tonight's ceremony on BBC One and iPlayer from 8pm.
