Two areas of government will be used as a "test bed" to trial the introduction of the new Freedom of Information Act.
It comes into effect on February 1st - but requests can only be made in respect of the Cabinet Office and the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
However despite being in the Cabinet Office information held by Government Technology Services and the Office of Human Resources will not be available.
The regime will be extended over the next two years so it's fully implemented by 2018 - Chief Minister Allan Bell says it's being phased for good reason:
