Rifle Shooting - 19 year old Kelly ranked Great British 3rd Junior

19 year old Edinburgh University student Ben Kelly, has been ranked 3rd in the Great British Junior rankings. This is wonderful news for the youngster from Port St Mary who is at present representing Edinburgh University Rifle Club, recently claiming a very creditable third individual in the winning University team competition at Aberdeen. Kelly’s year has been a success story from beginning to end, with excellent results in the Easter Shooting Festival, 2 bronze medals in the Double English at the Bisley National week, followed with a win in the clubs summer scratch series, The Sadler Junior 50 metre Championship, a silver medal in the Commonwealth Shooting Championships, losing the gold by .3 of a point in a thrilling Olympic Final in September and then of course, receiving the GB ranking news. 

Barry Jones has forwarded the leaders in the three monthly Isle of Man Rifle Association’s postal competitions which are running at present.

The results for the November cards in the Under 21 League show a very close set of results with Cossacks Jess Clague holding onto first place recording 196 x 200 from Kirk Michaels Illiam Cristian in second with 195 and Jess’s team mate, Fergus Coulter in third on 194.

            The C league has four individuals separated by just 2 points with Perryn Callister (Kirk Michael) and Dave Humphrey (IoMSC Douglas) both posting 196 with Tony Kneale (IoMSC Sandsiders) and Nick Brown (IoMSC Douglas) both recording 194.

            The D League, for the JB Richie Trophy, has Mike Clague shooting for IoMSC Douglas, in first slot posting 198 x 200 from in equal position, Nick Kennish (Laxey) and Illiam Christian (Kirk Michael) in second, both recording 196 and in third, IoMSC shooter Martin Burns on 195.
