The Department of Infrastructure has had to mobilise substantial resources around the Island to deal with widespread flooding issues.
Heavy downpours over night have caused numerous problems with the worst affected area the Mountain Road.
This has now been closed until at least 12pm tomorrow.
The volume of water has resulted in significant landslides on the stretch of road from the tower bends to Guthrie’s.
Some roads have lifted under the action of ground water pressure however it’s thought however that these should settle back shortly.
Motorists are urged to drive carefully, keep your speed down due to the risk of aquaplaning and use headlights and fog lights as appropriate.
There is some further rain forecast today but this should clear later tonight.
