Plans to build a mobile phone mast on West Drive in Onchan have been scrapped following concern raised in the House of Keys last month.
Onchan MHK Zac Hall was worried about the health effects of such a mast, as it would have been close to the new Bemahague School.
Mr Hall highlighted a report which calls for phone masts to be banned from within a mile of schools.
Infrastructure Minister David Cretney says he has held meetings with Manx Telecom, and that the company has now agreed not to continue its plans to build a mast on West Drive.
Mr Cretney is also calling for an urgent review into the Permitted Development Order regarding mobile communication masts, to ensure such a situation doesn't arise again in the future.
