There are no statistics to show how effective security cameras are around the Island's capital.
Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson says no records are kept of how many court cases have had CCTV evidence presented as part of the prosecution.
However, he has confirmed that many cases have relied on footage.
Douglas South MHK Kate Beecroft asked the Minister for the numbers in the written answers section of this week's House of Keys sitting.
Mr Watterson was also unable to say how many crimes had been prevented as a result of CCTV.
