Team Isle of Man's Jessica Li defeated Ogar Siamupangila from Zambia in the women's singles round of 32 match earlier.
The 20-year-old student won 21-9, 21-13 at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre on Wednesday.
Jessica told Energy FM: "I felt a bit more comfortable. This morning was my first match in the hall, so I was a bit nervous. Having another match out there really helped to settle me down."
On her preparations following the morning session match:"I always knew I had two matches today, so we planned what times we were going back for food and things like that. Everyone else has been really good. My brother and my coach are always here to help me warm up."
On potentially drawing former world No.1 Saina Nehwal (IND) in the next round: "Obviously she is such a great player, everyone knows who she is. I think it will be a really good experience and I am really looking forward to it."
