The McGreal family will be representing the Isle of Man in the Lawn Bowls at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Clive McGreal will compete in the Men’s Singles and joining him for the Men’s Pairs is his son Mark. The Team Manager is Clive’s wife, Bernice.

Education: Accountancy foundation at University of Glamorgan, Pontypridd, Wales

Coach: NATIONAL: Himself
Sporting relatives: His wife, Bernice, represents Isle of Man in lawn bowls, competing at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, and the 2012 and 2017 Champion of Champions. His sons, Mark and Michael, represent Isle of Man in lawn bowls.
Other sports: At his peak, ranked in the top eight squash players in the Isle of Man.
Reason: "At age 11, I was influenced by friends and relations in the sport. After a 30-year gap, I returned to the sport in 2011."
Ambition: "To compete alongside my son (Mark) at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, and again at the World Championships in 2020."

Mark McGREAL

Occupation: Police officer
Education: Sports studies at University of Glamorgan, Pontypridd, Wales

Sporting relatives: His mother, Bernice, represents Isle of Man in lawn bowls, competing at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, and the 2012 and 2017 Champion of Champions. His father, Clive, represents Isle of Man in lawn bowls, competing at the 2016 and 2017 Champion of Champions.
Other sports: Played rugby for Welsh side Caerphilly.
Reason: "Following moving back to the island after university, I was persuaded by my parents to attend the indoor bowls hall, to get me out of the house. It transpired that my natural hand-eye coordination put me in good stead, so joined the outdoor leagues in the summer."
Ambition: "My primary goal is selection for the (Gold Coast 2018) Commonwealth Games and perform well. Future goals are to be part of the first IOM male team to qualify and compete at a bowls world championships." (Athlete, 9 Oct 2017)
