Where to go and get help if you need it over festive period

Manx Care has highlighted the availability of health and care services over Christmas and New Year by signposting the opening times of key services across the festive period.

Noble’s Hospital Emergency Department will remain open throughout.

The Minor Injuries and Illnesses Unit (MIU) at Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital will be open from 8am to 8pm (final admissions at 7:30pm) every day of the year including over Christmas, New Year and all Bank Holidays.

X-Rays will be available at MIU on December 27, 28 and 29 between 9am – 5pm, and January 1 between 11:00am and 4:30pm.

The Chester Street Vaccination Hub/111 will be closed December 25 - 29 December and January 1.

The Manx Emergency Doctor Service (MEDS) will be open 24 hours December 23 – 26, December 30 – 1 and January 1.  

However it’ll be operating 6pm – 8am from December 27 – 29 and on January 2.

On Christmas Day the community pharmacies that are open are as follows:

  • Douglas - Clear, 22 Woodbourne Road – 12pm until 1pm
  • Peel - Clear, 6-8 Michael Street - 12pm until 1pm
  • Ramsey - Clear, Parliament Street – 12pm until 1pm

On Boxing Day the community pharmacies that are open are as follows:

  • Douglas - Boots the Chemist, 14/22 Strand Street – 10am until 4:30pm
  • Douglas - Clear, Shoprite, Victoria Road – 10am until 2pm
  • Peel - Clear, 8-10 Atholl Place – 12pm until 1pm
  • Ramsey - Clear, Shoprite, Bowring Road – 10am until 2pm
  • South - Clear, Darnill’s Complex, Station Road, Port Erin – 12pm until 1pm

On New Years Day the community pharmacies that are open are as follows:

  • Douglas - Clear, 22 Woodbourne Road – 12pm until 1pm
  • Peel - Clear, 6-8 Michael Street - 12pm until 1pm
  • Ramsey - Clear, Parliament Street – 12pm until 1pm

For Mental Health matters, Manx Care's Integrated Mental Health Team offers a crisis response approach to individuals who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis that necessitates a rapid response and the Crisis Response Home Treatment team is contactable on 642860.

Samaritans work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and can be contacted on 116 123 at any time.
