Seconds away from reaching the final of the IBJJF World Nogi Championship in Las Vegas, Hayley Curtis put everything into her semi-final match with one of her best performances to date amongst the best in the World.

Despite giving it her all, and nearly winning the match with a shoulder lock submission in the dying seconds, she lost the semi-final by only 2 points meaning she returns home with a bronze from the quarter final where her opponent was disqualified.

An unbelievable year for Hayley who has fought 25 times in 2023 with a medal haul of 6 Gold, 3 Silver and 9 Bronze medals across Regional, National, International and World level championships in the UK, Ireland, Paris, Rome and the United States.

Coach Conrad Roberts said “An incredible year for Hayley who has shown incredible grit and determination throughout and reaped the rewards for such. She is an inspiration to the hundreds of kids and adults who train with Gracie Barra Isle of Man and a credit to her Coaches and sparring partners”.

Police Awards

A current serving Police Officer, Hayley received the Les Grady Trophy for Sporting Achievements at the Chief Constable’s Awards in November for her accomplishments in Jiu-Jitsu with the Academy Gracie Barra Isle of Man.

Supported by Hartford Homes, and money raised by the Academy, Hayley and her team mates have had great opportunities to travel to compete.
