In the past three weeks the Mann Cat Sanctuary have had three cases of animal neglect.

The charity have recently rescued a cat which was left in a dustbin soaked in diesel and oil.

According to the charity, the cat had been there for “sometime as she was in a dreadful mess”.

It had a call to collect her after she had been discovered late at night. Following veterinary advice, it was told how to remove the diesel and what support treatment she needed.

Thanks to the work of the charity, in two days she is already looking much better and “enjoying plenty of chicken”.

The charity took to social media with pictures of the cat, it has now called ‘Annie’, saying:

“This is the third cruelty case in as many weeks, following a feral cat which was shot and due to a serious head wound had to be put to sleep and the second cat was put in a closed basket and left in a cold bunker to die.

“There really is no excuse for these situations. Our phone is always answered and nobody is ever judged - the cat's welfare is always our priority. These are just the cases that we are aware of and fear that there is much more going on that we don't hear about and so much unnecessary suffering being caused.”
