IOM Energy 'encourage customers to get in touch'

Thu, 16 Nov 2023

Many households across the Island have received letters from Isle of Man Energy (formerly Manx Gas) warning that they’d be cut off within 7 days unless outstanding bills were paid.

Several of these individuals told Energy FM that they have struggled or not be able to get in contact with Isle of Man Energy to discuss payment plans and/or payment options after having unexpected amounts billed to them.

A spokesperson for Isle of Energy commented on the situation and said:

“We are contacting customers who have significant arrears on their account and due to non-payment have built up a high level of debt. We want to ensure that customers do not get into further debt so we have asked them to get in touch and we can talk about ways in which this can be settled over a longer period. If customers do not contact us, we do have the option to disconnect their supply until the outstanding amount has been settled. We encourage customers to get in touch to discuss their circumstances.”

With the reports of people being unable to get in touch with Isle of Man Energy to discuss bills, Energy FM have contacted Isle of Man Energy again to ask what people are to do in these circumstances.

We are awaiting response from Isle of Man Energy.
