DEFA staff 'verbally abused' when asking dog owners to comply to rules

Tue, 31 Oct 2023

Department staff from DEFA have been verbally abused when asking visitors to comply with dog lead rules at Millennium Oakwood, this is according to a social media post from DEFA (Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture) – Hills, Forests & Glens.

Currently there is a temporary ‘dogs on lead’ policy at the Millennium Oakwood due to the type of machinery in operation during the maintenance of the area.

Dogs are to be kept on a lead between 8am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday.

A failure to keep your dog on the lead is a breach of the byelaws which carries a penalty of up to £1,000.
