Safety reminder ahead of this year's bonfire night

Mon, 30 Oct 2023

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service has issued a safety reminder ahead of this year's bonfire night.

Fireworks can be sold until November 5th.

It is an offence to let fireworks off during night hours (11pm to 7am).

Fire safety officers are urging anyone who buys fireworks to make sure they're stored safely, not drink while setting off fireworks and supervise children.

The service recently visited St Ninian's High School to talk to Year 7 students about firework safety.

Anyone who buys fireworks that don't meet safety standards should contact Trading Standards on 686520.

IOMFRS have information online, including the Fireworks Code, protecting children, animals, and handling sparklers.
