Warning for coastal overtopping and harbour flooding

Sun, 29 Oct 2023

Forecasters are warning of more coastal overtopping later.

Another large spring tide tonight (approx. 23:40 hours), again in combination with fresh to strong easterly winds, this resulting in waves breaking over exposed coastal areas for a few hours.

Douglas, Laxey and Ramsey promenades will be affected, with stones, debris and sand brought ashore. Parking is not advised in these areas, clean-up will be required afterwards.

Also, the sea height will again be high enough for potential flooding of inner harbours and quaysides in susceptible places (similar height to last night), parts of Douglas, Ramsey and Castletown. Flood defences will be needed again in places, especially Castletown.
