VIDEO: Windfarm will affect the whole South says objectors

Tue, 03 Oct 2023

Objectors to the proposed taxpayer-funded windfarm at Earystane, say that the negative impact will be felt right across the south of the Island and not just 'in their backyards'.

The Manx Utilities Authority today announced that their chosen site to deliver 20 mega watts of wind powered electricity is Scard and Earystane above Colby.

The site chosen also comes with a huge expansion to a quarry which will be accessed from the Ronague Road.

Kirrie Jenkins is a local resident and says that people do not realise that this isn't just a local issue to the rural area where the turbines are to be built, but the construction phase will affect residents across the south and major infrastructure will have to be built and adjusted, just to get the construction traffic and materials to the site.
