The University College Isle of Man (UCM) will be holding its fifth annual Research Festival in two weeks time on October 13.

The event that is held at the Nunnery campus is free to attend and will include presentation of research projects and findings from local organisations as well as international speakers.

The event will be opened by the Chief Minister followed by the keynote address by Climate Research Scientist, Dr Douglas Fox.

Gail Corrin, Higher Education Manager at UCM, said: “We’re really looking forward to an eclectic and extremely interesting line up. The event is broken into three pathways which fit with the Island Plan’s three strands – Sustainable, Secure and Vibrant.

‘The ‘Sustainable’ pathway features ‘Manx Blue Carbon’, ‘Renewable Electric Grid Simulation’ and ‘Peat Survey & Restoration and Seagrass Conservation’ among other presentations.

Meanwhile, the ‘Vibrant’ and ‘Secure’ pathways feature talks on ‘Awesome Manx Women’, ‘A paradigm shift required in celebrating our world of differences’, ‘Becoming an Effective Leader of a Remote Team’ and ‘Chatbot Vs Librarian’.
