Last week University College Isle of Man (UCM) held a breakfast event focussed on how learning, development and Continued Professional Development (CPD) supports business success.

Chief Executive Officer of tech company ‘SQR Group Limited’ and Chair of the Digital Forum for the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce, Shelley Langan-Newton, delivered a presentation about her journey from teaching to working in the tech industry and the value of upskilling.

At the event UCM launched the Adult Learning courses that are for people already working to upskill as well as making great CPD opportunities.

Langan-Newton said: “I was thrilled to deliver a presentation at UCM’s upskilling event, all about how important it is for employers to be supporting their staff through CPD opportunities, and the benefits that come with lifelong learning.

“It’s a topic I’m genuinely very passionate about, so it was a great opportunity to share my experience, meet with so many different employers and hear about UCM’s professional course offering.”

UCM currently offers more than 50 upskilling courses to support the Creative Arts, Digital Literacy, Environment and Sustainability, Food and Drink, and Health and Wellbeing sectors. Courses include areas such as Book Keeping, Tractor Driving, Food Safety, Sustainability, Customer Service and Speaking with Confidence.

The University College also offers bespoke courses to support Manx businesses with their learning and training requirements.
