With nurses and frontline healthcare staff due to stage a walkout tomorrow, the head of Nursing at Manx Care is urging the Royal College of Nursing to call off the strike.

Paul Moore, Manx Care's Executive Director of Nursing spoke to Reporter Charlie Morrey and said that the "risk to patient safety is significant".

He is urging both sides to get back around the negotiating table and consider binding arbitration.

Mr Moore went on to say that he is "deeply concerned that patients will be at high risk of harm on the day of industrial action".

The walkout takes place between 8am and 8pm with numerous services being cancelled and others operating a 'Christmas Day' style schedule.

Further action is planned for the 18th and 19th October.
