Marown Commissioners Support Controversial Parking Regs

Thu, 31 Aug 2023

Marown Commissioners have agreed to support controversial proposals to ban the parking of large cars and other vehicles at evenings and weekends.

The DOI announced that they intend bringing forward regulations that will see vehicles over 1.87m high, banned from parking in speed restricted areas and that it would be up to local authorities to exempt areas from the regulations.

The move will not only affect people with high cars and small vans who park outside their properties, but will affect small traders carrying out call outs to properties or families visiting relatives.

It could also mean the end of home deliveries as any vehicles parking would breach the rules if they exceeded the height and length dimensions during evenings and weekends.

One member of the Marown Board voted against supporting the new regulations. Eliza Cox told Energy News that the proposals had far reaching ramifications that would affect a lot of people in the Parish.
