Ramsey Commissioners will be responding to the access to cash survey as a board because cash is ‘important’ for its residents.

The survey is a response to a government report which looked into how residents use cash and make payments.

Leonard Singer said during the commissioners August meeting that if there’s no cash people will ‘suffer’.

Fellow Commissioner Luke Parker said people pay their social housing rent with cash.

He went on to say that local shops can’t rely on the technology for card payments because it can ‘fail’.

The consultation closes next week on 7 September.
