Five Paramedics from Wales have come to the Island to support the Isle of Man Ambulance Service (IMAS) during the Manx Grand Prix (MGP) period.

The Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust (WAST) have provided additional support during motorsport events since mutual aid was arranged in 2022.

Paramedic Operational Commander Matthew Lane (South Wales) along with paramedics Georgina Glover (Swansea), Pete Jones (Ceredigion), James Winmill (Swansea) and Dewi Lloyd (Wrexham) were selected to join the IMAS team.

Clare Langshaw, the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust’s Head of Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have our colleagues flying the flag for WAST in such a professional way.

“Mutual aid arrangements like this not only enable us to deliver services across geographic boundaries but it’s also a wonderful opportunity for individuals to develop their skills and get a whole new perspective on their role and the broader profession.”

IMAS is also working closely with Wrexham Glyndwr University to support Manx Paramedic Science degree students in being able to have their placement year at home on the Island if they wish to do this.
