Seven athletes from the Isle of Man have been selected to represent the Island at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) in Trinidad and Tobago.
Later today (August 7), cyclist Ruby Oakes will be competing in the Women’s Road Race Final, due to take place at 14:00 local time (19:00 BST), this follows on from her impressive 3rd place earlier in the week in the Women’s Individual Time Trial.
Fellow Manx cyclist, Tyler Annis will be competing in the Men’s Road Race Final at 18:00 local time (23:00 BST), earlier in the week the Manxman ranked 8th in the Men’s Individual Time Trial.
Three Manx swimmers will also be competing today; Ella Justice in the Women’s 50m backstroke at 15:47 local time (20:47 BST); Magnus Kelly in the Men’s 100m freestyle at 16:33 local time (21:33 BST) and Connor Mealin in the Men’s 50m breaststroke at 17:03 local time (22:03 BST).
Meanwhile in athletics, Regan Corrin will be representing the Island in the Men’s high jump and long jump, with Jack Kinrade competing in the Men’s 800m.
The seventh Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago is taking place until August 11 and features over 1000 athletes and para athletes between the ages of 14-18.
