New rainforest planned for Isle of Man

New rainforests will be created in western parts of Britain to help restore habitats destroyed in recent centuries.

Nearly 200 acres of temperate forests - which are different from tropical rainforests - will be planted in north Wales and the Isle of Man.

Over 70 acres at Creg y Cowin will be planted with native tree species, with around 20 acres allowed to regenerate naturally. Non-planted areas of lowland heath, fen-meadow, waxcap grassland and ponds will provide further habitat for wildlife. 

The Wildlife Trusts is overseeing the work.
