The Manx Government has confirmed a wild goose found dead in Castletown Harbour was infected with avian influenza.

The bird, is the first positive case recorded since December.

A surveillance zone in the west of the island was lifted in January.

There are currently no avian influenza restrictions zones in place on the Isle of Man and the risk to human health is very low.

DEFA are strongly advising that bird keepers should remain vigilant by practicing good biosecurity and they should reduce any contact wild birds may have with kept birds.
