The demolition of the Marine Biological Station in Port Erin is the first part of the development of the complex.

Port Erin Commissioners put out a statement on Facebook saying the demolition is due to happen soon.

As part of the development, the building will have apartments, an apart-hotel, a restaurant, retail and an exhibition space will be added.

Delgatie, the developer in charge, took over the site in August 2018.

Chair of Port Erin Commissioners, Godfrey Egee said: “The commissioners are very pleased to finally see the project receiving planning approval, admittedly with a large number of conditions to meet, but this is a good thing as shows due diligence on the planning committee’s part.

“To actually see the planned demolition take place is a good start. The new development should be a great asset to the village and a vast improvement on what’s currently there.”

In the statement on Facebook the commissioners also said “There’s a road closure application to facilitate site works made to the Department of Infrastructure, which will come into effect later this month.”
