Douglas Fireworks to make return after two year break

Tue, 18 Oct 2022

Following a two-year absence, the night skies over the capital are to dazzle once again with the Douglas City fireworks display.

The popular crowd-pleasing event, once again organised by Douglas Council and sponsored by Celton Manx, will be held on Friday, 4th November, 2022.

It will get underway at 7.15pm when Mayor of Douglas, Councillor Janet Thommeny will lead the judging for the Best Guy competition, for which prizes of £100, £50 and £25 are up for grabs.

The fireworks display themed to music will then begin at 7.30pm – fired from a barge moored opposite the War Memorial from where spectators are encouraged to watch and where catering outlets will also be located.

Harris Promenade will be closed during the display. Entries for the Best Guy competition can be submitted between 6.45 and 7.10pm at the staged area in the vicinity of the War Memorial.

Both the 2020 and 2021 displays were unable to go ahead due to Covid-19 and the promenade refurbishment works respectively.
