Anchor cause of Ben-my-Chree delays

The Steam Packet Company said a technical issue with the Ben-my-Chree's anchor was the cause of the vessel remaining stuck in Heysham this morning.

It said the anchor had been used during berthing, could not be raised.

The tide then dropped below a level where the Ben-my-Chree could leave Heysham Port.

She is now en route to Douglas having recovered the anchor.

Manannan was drafted in at short notice to operate the 08:45 scheduled sailing from Douglas to Heysham.
