After sitting in the Silver medal position overnight, Sunday became the biggest day of 25 year old Yasmin Ingham's life.

FEI Eventing World Championships - Pratoni del Vivaro - Roma - Italy 2022

Riding under Team GB, Ingham was selected to ride as an 'individual' and not part of the 'Team' entry who were in at one point in gold medal position.

However today's show jumping course proved challenging with only 12 clear rounds from 68 starters.

Had Team GB have chosen Ingham to compete as part of the team, it would have secured Great Britain a medal. Instead they finished 4th. No doubt they will now be reflecting on this decision.

Ingham rode a flawless round as she could not afford to drop a single pole; this would have plummeted her to 8th.

All eyes were then on the German rider Michi Jung, who is not known for being anything less than perfect. The thought of Jung dropping two poles was not foremost in the crowds mind, however in the closing seconds of the events' final round, Jung dropped a pole but he was still in Gold position.

With two fences to go, Ingham and her team were celebrating Silver when Jung hit the very last fence which toppled, relegating him to 5th and crowning Ingham World Champion.
