Mark Cavendish and Laura Kinley have been chosen as the Isle of Man's flagbearer for the opening of the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

Laura will be competing at her third Commonwealth Games, a fantastic achievement. She will be competing in the 50m and 100m breaststroke events.

Mark is a Commonwealth Games gold medalist having won the 20km scratch race at Melbourne 2006. He is also representing Team Isle of Man at his third Commonwealth Games and will be competing in the Men’s Road Race.

Speaking to BBC North West Tonight, Cavendish said: "We can go from this small island with, not just having a rider that's a favourite, but a team that's going to be one of the strongest teams in the race."

Energy FM will be broadcasting from Birmingham with a special daily show from 6pm and updates through the day during the games.
