Properties raided by police in secret PPE fraud probe

Thu, 28 Apr 2022

Four properties on the Isle of Man have been raided by police as part of a secret investigation into personal protective equipment fraud, during Covid.

It's believed a special unit of the National Crime Agency's been looking into allegations surrounding the supply of PPE for around a year.

There've been no arrests, but financial documents and electronic devices have been seized in London and the Isle of Man.

Some companies were criticised early on in the pandemic, having made profit at the expense of the taxpayer while failing to deliver what was promised.

It's thought some individuals could be interviewed in the coming weeks.
