Laxey Wheel conservation begins

Contractors have commenced work on a project to repair and conserve the Great Laxey Wheel.

Auldyn Construction won the tendering process and will undertake phase 1 of the project.

This will see old render and defective timbers replaced and the wheel, housing, railings and viewing platform re-painted.

Works will take place over a four month period.

Manx National Heritage says plans are being put in place for managed public access to see these major conservation works as they happen.
