Housing crisis has not gone away say Manx Labour

Fri, 03 Dec 2021

The Manx Labour Party says the housing crisis on the Island has still not gone away.

It says the matter was left unresolved under Quayle administration.

The party said they were due to meet the Minister in charge of housing before the last election but it was called off by the minister and not rearranged.

Party member say they will hold public meetings on the subject and lobby the Manx Government to ensure its a top priority.

MLP leader Joney Faragher said "One thing can be started immediately would be for local government and DOI to build and refurbish more homes. These are a good investment as well as the right thing to do. However, this needs Government to be proactive as they need to approve proposals from Local Authorities. Local Authorities cannot build homes without DOI approval."
