Living wage gets the vote from Douglas Council

Douglas Borough Council has voted to encourage all contractors engaged by the council to pay their staff the Manx Living Wage.
 
As part of its Corporate Plan the payment of the wage of £10.87 per hour will be included as specific evaluation criteria in the procurement process.
 
Points will be awarded to potential contractors who meet this payment standard across their business.
 
Councillor Claire Wells says the motion, which was put forward at last month’s council meeting, was also discussed in relation to suppliers:
