Marown & District Bowling Club are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year and part of the celebrations is the completion of building a brand new club house which was opened on Friday evening by The Chief Minister of the Isle of Man Howard Quayle.
Three years ago, it was discussed about a project to build their own clubhouse, as the old clubhouse was becoming to small for the expansion of the club.
The build would also include a short-mat facility which will be played mainly in the winter, enabling the club to play bowls throughout the whole year.
The club members were given the task of raising £15,000 towards the scheme and all the members made a fantastic contribution to this and the funds were raised in little over a year!
Work started in June 2020 and was compleated and opened on Friday 30th April 2021 to coincide with the 50th year of the green's opening.
