Patients evacuated at hospital after burning smell

Firefighters responded to reports of a smell of burning at Noble's Hospital earlier.

Three crews and the aerial appliance were sent to Ward 8 at the hospital at 4:20pm.

Patients were evacuated to a place of safety by staff prior to fire service attendance.

Checks were carried out by fire service personnel using thermal imaging cameras.

Hospital electricians and facility staff carried out investigations within the plant room above and were able to identify a failed drive belt on a ventilation unit as the cause.
