School pupils receive free access to Microsoft apps

Fri, 30 Oct 2020

School pupils and educators on the Island have been given free access to a range of computer applications and learning tools under a scheme run by the Education Service.

The Microsoft Office 365 package includes industry-standard programmes such as Word, PowerPoint and Teams that can be used to support learning and communication.

Students and teachers can simply log in using their school username to download the apps to a computer, tablet or mobile phone.

The software has been made available, at no extra cost, as part of the general Microsoft licence agreement paid for by Isle of Man Government, and the full package will remain available for as long as students remain in full-time education.

The scheme was originally launched in 2018 and pupils and school staff are now being reminded of the benefits following the recent disruption to schools and a review of the provision of remote learning.
