Aurigny Reports Losses of almost £10 Million

Tue, 15 Sep 2020

The taxpayer-funded airline of Guernsey has reported losses of almost £10 million for 2019.

Aurigny's accounts ending 31 December show it is now more than £19.8 million in debt following another 12 months where costs far outstripped its revenue.

The company's now relying on an overdraft facility and tens of millions of pounds worth of loans.

Any losses at the state-subsidised airline are a direct cost to the government and the taxpayer of the Channel Island.

An air bridge was formed between the Isle of Man and Guernsey on 22 July as both jurisdictions were in similar positions in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic; which was operated by Aurigny.
