It’s been confirmed two branches of Isle of Man Bank are to close.

RBS International, which owns the bank, has issued a press release announcing that buildings in Peel and Castletown will shut their doors for good on 7 January next year.

The closures will mean a number of voluntary redundancies.

In a statement issued this morning, the bank cites ‘significant changes in customer behaviour’ as a reason for the closures; with more people choosing to do their banking online.

Branches in Ramsey, Port Erin, as well as Regent Street and Athol Street in Douglas will remain open.

CEO of RBS International, Andrew McLaughlin, says today’s announcement “recognises our need to move with the times”.
