Strong winds and heavy rain cause disruption on Island roads

Tue, 25 Aug 2020

Persistent heavy rain and strong winds have seen a number of Manx roads closed today.

The Mountain Road closed from Ramsey to the Creg-ny-Baa Back Road, while other routes along the TT Course also shut.

It's after flooding and fallen trees caused havoc following an amber weather warning issued by the Met Office.

Ballig Bridge to Kirk Michael was closed off after the river there burst its banks, while the Druidale Road, Niarbyl to Round Table, and Tholt-y-Will were other roads affected by the adverse conditions.

Those using the roads today have been advised to leave more time than usual for their journeys with 70mm of rainfall expected on Tuesday, leaving standing water and debris.

The Isle of Man Constabulary is providing the latest on road closures here.
