More Indesit and Hotpoint washing machines recalled over safety concerns

Mon, 04 May 2020

Owners of Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines are being made aware that a further 21 models are being recalled due to safety concerns.

The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading has confirmed it is the third such announcement by owner Whirlpool in recent months, with 66 models now being recalled due to a fault with a door-locking system. Whirlpool is reviewing all Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines sold between 2014 and 2018.

Whirlpool has set up a model checker online which lists the recall model numbers.  The OFT says owners of any of the machines listed should stop using them immediately, unplug and contact Whirlpool on 0800 316 1442.

Owners of Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines bought since October 2014 will need to enter the model and serial number of their appliance - found inside the door or on the back - to see if it is one of those affected.

Anyone affected will be provided with a free replacement by Whirlpool.
