Foxdale Primary School has appointed a new headteacher.

Anna Griffiths, who has worked in teaching since 2001, was previously deputy headteacher at Onchan Primary Schoo for seven years.

She will take over from Ann Jessopp, who will retire this summer after 10 years in the role, and 26 years teaching on the Island.

Miss Griffiths said: ‘I am honoured to take on the role of headteacher at Foxdale Primary School and I am really looking forward to building relationships with the children, staff, parents and the wider community.

‘My aim is to build on Foxdale School’s current strengths and successes, and I’m delighted to be a part of this exciting new phase in the school’s development.

‘I would like to thank everyone at Onchan School for being so supportive and for making my time there so memorable.’

Manx-born Anna was educated at Ashley Hill Primary School and St Ninian’s High School before completing a BA honours degree in primary education with English specialism and qualified teacher status, graduating in 2000.

She has 20 years of teaching experience, having taught in several schools in Liverpool and on the Island.

Miss Griffiths will begin her new position on 1st September.
