An Amber weather warning has been issued for this weekend.

Storm Ciara is set to batter the Island from tomorrow until Monday.

Ronaldsway Met Office has issued the Amber alert for coastal overtopping and inner harbour flooding from 9pm tomorrow until 1:30pm on Sunday.

Forecasters say the gale to severe gale force south to southwest wind, will create very rough waves and bring significant amounts of sea water and debris onto exposed coastal roads and promenades around the time of high tide.

The areas most likely to be affected will be Shore Road Rushen, Castletown Promenade, the northern end of Douglas Promenade, Laxey Promenade, and to a lesser extent Ramsey Promenade.

A yellow warning is also in force for coastal overtopping later and for gales over the weekend.
