New operators will officially open the refurbished Curraghs Wildlife Park Cafe this weekend.

The newly branded Mangrove café will be run by Tim and Rachel Knighton, who also run Sunset Lakes in Peel.

IOM Government said the Park attracted nearly 50,000 visitors in 2019 and its café has been transformed with new flooring, equipment and lighting, and will offer a menu of fresh, quick and healthy dishes.

Any disposable items such as cutlery and takeaway cups will be compostable in a bid to reduce plastic waste from the Wildlife Park.

Geoffrey Boot MHK, Minister for Environment, Food and Agriculture said: 'It is great to see the pride Tim and Rachel have taken and I am sure the café will be a real asset to the Wildlife Park. I am especially pleased to see their determination to reduce unnecessary plastic waste.’

Tim said: ‘The Mangrove café has one of the best views you can imagine and we have been working extremely hard to create a special atmosphere. We are really looking forward to showing people what we have done when we open on Saturday.’

‘We want people to leave their lunch boxes at home and come and try our delicious new menu.'

The Wildlife Park is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am until 4 pm and seven days a week during February half-term.

Members can continue to take advantage of a 10% discount on all hot food and drinks.
