Island marks World Cancer Day

Wed, 05 Feb 2020

Several Island landmarks were lit purple last night to mark World Cancer Day.

Douglas Power Station, Tower of Refuge, Ramsey Swing Bridge and Douglas Town Hall changed colour to raise awareness and take action on cancer.

The UK's almost at the bottom of a list of countries ranked by five-year survival rates for some of the deadliest cancers.

A group of researchers in London found it's 25th for the pancreatic type of the disease, out of 29 nations.

It sits in 26th place for stomach cancer and 27th for the lung form.
