Port Erin Commissioners have set the village rate at 310 pence in the pound, a rise of just under one percent compared to the previous year.

Chairman Godfrey Egee says increases in costs outside of the authority’s control have been ‘absorbed by prudent financial management’.

The board plans to ‘draw down’ reserves to fund improvement to facilities at Breagle Glen, and continue projects like the redevelopment of the Cosy Nook Cafe, and creation of a ‘tourism site’ off Ballafesson Road.

The 3p increase will take effect from April.
