Flybe defends rescue package

Fri, 17 Jan 2020

Flybe’s defending the rescue package it struck with the UK government and denied it’s worth up to £100M.

The struggling airline says it's actually been given more time to pay a tax bill of "less than £10M".

The company also insists it'll settle what it owes within months.

Rivals have complained the agreement's unfair.

Flybe was last year taken over by a consortium led by Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic - which is 49% owned by America's Delta airline - together with infrastructure group Stobart and hedge fund Cyrus Capital.
