Amber warning remains in force

Tue, 14 Jan 2020

An Amber weather warning for coastal overtopping remains in force today.

Ronaldsway Met Office says there will be a strong to gale force south-westerly wind during Tuesday, creating large waves and bringing significant amounts of sea water and debris onto exposed coastal roads and promenades.

High tide is due at 1:45pm today.

The areas most likely to be affected will be Shore Road – Rushen, Castletown Promenade, the northern end of Douglas Promenade, Laxey Promenade and to a lesser extent Ramsey Promenade and Fenella Beach in Peel.

There is also a small risk of some very minor flooding  for the lowest lying areas of some of the islands harbours, with the areas at risk being the Tongue in Douglas and Mezeron Corner and West Quay in Ramsey. Castletown harbour is not expected to have any issues as long as flood defences have been deployed.
