HSBC Isle of Man is seeking donations of children’s books this Christmas as part of an initiative to encourage young people to read more.

Until 20th December, residents will be able to donate new and near new books for children aged 0 -12 years at dedicated ‘book drops’ in any of the Bank’s branches.

All books received will be donated to HSBC’s Community Partner, Junior Achievement Isle of Man, who will work in collaboration with local charity Family Library to make the books available for primary school pupils through their mobile library and school service.

Head of Sustainability of HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man Chantal Le Goff, said: 'I am thrilled we are able to extend our support of literacy skills for primary school pupils in the Isle of Man. To gift new and pre-loved books is a great way we can all help to make a difference in our community this Christmas, and I’m sure the generosity of our staff and Islanders will help bring a smile to the faces of children across the Island at this special time of year.”

CEO of Junior Achievement, Sue Cook said: 'When Junior Achievement delivers educational programmes in schools, literacy plays a key factor. We are delighted to be supporting HSBC with this initiative and to have the opportunity to work alongside another charity for the benefit of young people.'
