Mon, 02 Dec 2019

Three boys have secured places in the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain 2020 competion.

Nine-year-old Isaac Kreisky from The Buchan School, 11-year-old Dominic Sgouraditis and 14-year-old Sebastien Sgouraditis from King Williams College have been selected to attend residential courses in the UK, coached by some of Britain’s leading professionals in vocal training and musicianship.

They will also have the opportunity to perform at some of the top concert venues in the country.

Isaac has been singing since the age of four and is currently taught by Sue Mills, Head of Music at The Buchan School. He is a regular member of the Boys’ Choir and The Buchan Chamber Choir and has achieved success in a number of classes at The Guild over the years, including taking part in the Sheffield Plate competition this year.

Brothers Sebastien and Dominic have been members of St German’s Cathedral Choir for nearly five years and are taught by Ruth Tickle and Dr Litman. They are also learning the violin, electric guitar and piano.

Steve Daykin, Director of Music at King William’s College, said: ‘Choral singing is a particular strength at the Buchan and King William’s College and very much a key part of school life. We are delighted to celebrate this fantastic achievement and know they will be excellent ambassadors not only for the school community but also for the Island as a whole.’
